Congratulations to Mrs Christou for completing ELSA Training
We are delighted to congratulate Mrs Christou on completing her ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training. This achievement is an important act of service, strengthening the emotional support we offer our children and helping ensure every pupil feels listened to, valued and ready to learn.
What is ELSA?
ELSA stands for Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. An ELSA is a trained member of school staff who helps children understand and manage their emotions so they are better able to learn and thrive.
ELSA support is carefully planned and usually delivered through one‑to‑one or small‑group sessions. Children may be supported with feelings such as worry or anxiety, friendship difficulties, low self‑confidence, or managing change.
ELSA is not counselling or therapy; instead, it provides early, nurturing emotional support within the familiar and trusted school environment. This helps children feel listened to, valued and safe, strengthening their emotional wellbeing and resilience.
Having an ELSA in school supports our commitment to caring for the whole child, ensuring pupils feel emotionally ready to engage with learning and school life.
